Questions & Answers

Frequently asked questions

How do I know which package my family needs?
The best starting point is our free care consultation. Tell us about your loved one's medical conditions, daily living challenges, and the support you're already providing - and we'll recommend the right level. If needs change, we can upgrade or adjust your package at any time.
Are the prices all-inclusive?
Our monthly fees cover carer wages, MyKin platform access, digital care logging, and the family portal. Consumables (medication, medical supplies, specialist equipment) are billed separately. We will always give you a full cost breakdown before you commit.
What happens if my carer is sick or unavailable?
We maintain a reserve team of vetted carers. If your primary carer is unavailable, we deploy a qualified substitute - and we notify you in advance whenever possible. Continuity of care is a core commitment.
Can I change my care package after I've started?
Yes - always. Care needs evolve, and we expect to adjust packages over time. Simply contact us and we'll arrange a reassessment. Upgrades can be effective within 48 hours.
What does the 3-month guarantee cover?
If you need to change your carer for any reason within the first 3 months of a placement, MyKin bears all replacement vetting costs - including the NPF police clearance, NIN verification, and physical address visit for the new carer. After month 3, a ₦50,000 replacement fee applies (cost-recovery only, never profit). Our goal is the right fit, not just any fit.
Can I pay in a foreign currency?
Yes. Families in the UK, US, Canada, UAE and other countries can pay in their local currency. We handle the NGN conversion and ensure your carer is paid on time every month. Contact us for diaspora payment options.
The Process

How MyKin works

From your first enquiry to an active care plan - everything that happens and when.

For families

Your journey with MyKin

Getting started

1

Free care consultation

Contact us by phone, WhatsApp, or our website form. We'll schedule a free 30-minute consultation to understand your loved one's situation, medical conditions, and the level of support needed.

2

Care assessment

Our care coordinator conducts a structured assessment - in person where possible, or remotely for diaspora families. We document everything needed to find the right match.

3

Package recommendation

We present you with our recommended care package and two or three carer profiles. You review, ask questions, and choose your preferred carer.

4

Introductory meeting

Before care begins, your chosen carer meets you and your loved one. We attend (virtually or in person) to handle any questions and ensure a comfortable start.

5

Care begins

Your carer starts on an agreed date. A care plan is activated, your family portal is set up, and your care coordinator checks in after the first three visits.

Ongoing care

6

Daily visit logs

After every care session, your carer submits a structured digital log covering activities completed, medications given, vital signs (if applicable), mood and observations. You receive a notification immediately.

7

WhatsApp updates

Your carer sends a WhatsApp message - text or voice note - within 1 hour of completing each visit. A personal update, not a form. You'll know exactly how your loved one's day went.

8

Weekly summary

Every week (Medical and Specialist packages), you receive a formal care summary with trends, concerns, and recommendations - shareable with your GP or specialist.

9

Monthly review

Our care coordinator conducts a monthly check-in with you to review the care plan. If needs have evolved, we adjust. No additional charge for reassessments.

10

Always reachable

Our operations team is available 8am–8pm WAT, 7 days a week. For emergencies, your carer has a 24-hour escalation protocol. You are never left without support.

Our Story

Built by a family.
For every family.

We founded MyKin because we know what it feels like to love someone deeply and not be able to be there.

Why we exist

The gap we saw. The platform we built.

Nigeria has over 8 million adults aged 65 and above - a number set to triple by 2050. Formal, regulated home care is virtually absent from the healthcare landscape. What exists is largely informal: word-of-mouth recommendations, unverified helpers, and families making impossible choices.

MyKin Nigeria was built to change that. We are not a domestic staffing agency. We are a professional care platform - with a five-stage vetting standard, structured care plans, digital accountability tools, and a team that stands behind every placement.

We built this especially for Nigerian families abroad - the over 9 million Nigerians who live outside the country and carry the quiet anxiety of not being there when their parents need them most.

What we believe

Our values

🛡

Safety, always first

We will never compromise on who enters a family's home. Our 5-stage vetting process is non-negotiable - not a checklist, but a commitment.

🤝

Dignity in every interaction

Elders are not tasks to be managed - they are people with histories, preferences, and rights. Every carer we deploy understands this deeply.

🔍

Radical transparency

Families deserve to know exactly what is happening. Every visit is logged. Every update is shared. No guessing, no hoping - just clear information.

🌍

Diaspora-first thinking

We design every feature with the family abroad in mind. Payment in foreign currencies, live portal access, and carer communication in real time.

Professional, not informal

We are building a profession. Our carers are trained, verified, respected, and paid fairly - because great care comes from people who are treated well.

❤️

Warmth is not optional

Premium care is not cold care. We recruit carers who combine professional excellence with genuine human warmth - because both are essential.

"We believe that the people who built Nigeria - who worked, sacrificed, and raised the next generation - deserve to age with dignity, safety, and love."

MyKin Nigeria · Founded 2026

For Families Abroad

Distance doesn't
mean absence.

MyKin was built with you in mind. Whether you're in London, Houston, Toronto, or Dubai - your family in Nigeria is always close.

Designed for the diaspora

Everything a family abroad needs

💳

Pay in your currency

GBP, USD, CAD, EUR - pay in your local currency and we handle the NGN conversion. No international transfer fees, no late payments.

📊

Live family portal

Access your loved one's care portal from anywhere. Real-time visit logs, vital signs, medication records, and carer notes - all in one place.

💬

WhatsApp updates

Your carer sends a voice note or text update within 1 hour of every visit. A personal, human update - not an automated report.

📞

Video call inclusion

We schedule regular video calls between you, your loved one, and your care coordinator - so you stay connected to every decision.

🌙

Timezone-aware updates

Care logs are submitted by 8pm Lagos time - timed so diaspora families in the UK and US see them first thing each morning.

🛡

Remote peace of mind

Our 5-stage vetting and 30-day guarantee give you the confidence to trust someone you've never met - because we've done the due diligence for you.

"I haven't felt this relieved since before I moved abroad. Knowing there's a vetted nurse in my father's home every day - and I can see everything from my phone - changes everything."

- Tobi A., Manchester UK
